What we do
People Services and Internal Communications is responsible for a range of business operations related to how people work at VicRoads. We develop policy and strategy and the supporting processes and procedures.


Our structure
These are the business areas in this division:


Internal Communications

The Internal Communications team is responsible for providing staff and managers with the tools to ensure they’re informed about and involved in VicRoads business.

Key activities include:

  • developing and implementing the corporate internal communication strategy and projects
  • providing a communication consultancy service to business areas
  • developing and managing the VicRoads intranet – Exchange
  • coordinating corporate recognition activities
  • coordinating face to face communication programs between senior leaders and staff.


Organisation Development & Learning
Mission: To influence the development of a workplace culture that fosters capability development, collaboration and staff engagement.

The OD&L team provides the following suite of services:

    • capability building: technical capability building – mapping capabilities, identifying gaps and developing   recommendations to bridge the gaps
    • business transformation: facilitation of planning and team development workshops; driving innovation program
    • cultural development: staff engagement surveys; change management methodology and training; values and behaviours workshops; corporate induction; capability development planning support and training
    • leadership development.


    Workforce Planning
    Main activities:

  • internal and external recruitment, including the Graduate Program

  • police, driver licence and work rights checks

  • traineeships
  • university and schools partnerships and events

Organisational Change
This area helps VicRoads to adapt readily to change and respond swiftly to strategic directions and key business initiatives. The aim is to build tools and staff capability. Outcomes of the program are increased ability to drive change through:

  • a tested VicRoads change framework and toolkit
  • a published map of key corporate changes impacting divisions and business areas
  • a program to build capability in managing change
  • partnering with leaders of specific business improvements that require change management support.



Employee Relations

ER is responsible for:

  • developing human resource policies and strategies
  • negotiating agreements between VicRoads and unions
  • providing advice to managers on the resolution of grievances and disputes
  • promoting equal opportunity, appropriate behaviour and satisfactory performance.


Investigations & Anti-Corruption

This group aims to preserve the reputation and integrity of VicRoads and to protect its assets by:

  • encouraging professional and ethical behaviour
  • preventing and detecting fraud, corruption and serious misconduct
  • providing an effective and responsive investigative service
  • ensuring a fair and equitable disciplinary process.

Occupational Health & Safety
OH&S deal with issues that relate to safety in the workplace. This includes:

  • health programs
  • risk management
  • WorkCover claims
  • return-to-work rehabilitation.
       

      Executive Director

      Judith Pettitt
      Judith is responsible for ensuring that VicRoads has the staff and skills to deliver its programs, in terms of human resources activities and internal communications.

      Judith has been with VicRoads since 2001 and prior to that worked as the Director Human Services in the Department of Natural Resources and Environment. Judith has a Bachelor of Economics, a Diploma of Education, and a Master of Communication. Her areas of expertise include the development of leadership programs and the implementation of social media as an internal communication tool.
