To better understand how the Clyde Road Upgrade may impact local businesses, VicRoads would like to hear from businesses located in Berwick before major works start. This will help us develop a works schedule that, where possible, aims to avoid disruption during busy periods.
The Clyde Road Upgrade business survey is open from 30 January to 10 February 2012.
VicRoads has completed a strategic review of the Healesville Freeway Reservation. As a result, VicRoads has determined that the reservation between Springvale Road, Vermont South and Boronia Road, Vermont will not be required for future road purposes.
In consultation with the community and other stakeholders, VicRoads is developing a Structure Plan that will guide the future use of the land within the reservation. The Healesville Freeway Reservation Renewal Project has been established to develop this plan.
Community consultation will begin mid 2012. This online consultation hub will be updated to include an online forum, workshop details, registration and other important project and consultation information.

The Victorian Speed Limit Review aims to make speed limits simpler, more consistent and easier to follow. The Review provides an opportunity for Victorian road users to bring speed related issues to the attention of the policy-makers so that speed limits and their use can be improved. VicRoads and the Department of Transport are seeking feedback on a proposal to install level access tram stops on Bridge Road, between Punt Road and Church Street. This proposal aims to make tram trips to and from the city safer and improve access for tram passengers, while maintaining two lanes of traffic. For more information visit

The Road Safety Act 1986 which governs safe road use in Victoria is being reviewed and public submissions are welcome. The review will focus on simplifying the structure of the Act and improving the effectiveness of the policy and initiatives included. For more information and to provide comments please visit the

VicRoads asked the community how they found the Pound Road upgrade improvements and any feedback on communication throughout the project. In September and October 2011 a total of 142 people completed an end of project survey. You can view key findings and results on the Pound Road Upgrade page.
Local communities have provided input to the Caulfield to Dandenong Rail Crossing Study with over 280 people participating in community engagement workshops and over 180 comments posted on the online discussion forum.
The Caulfield to Dandenong Rail Crossing Study involves the 11 rail crossings on the Pakenham and Cranbourne lines between Grange Road, Caulfield East and South Gippsland Highway, Dandenong South and investigates improvement opportunities for these crossings.

As part of planning, VicRoads spoke to members of the community and other key stakeholders to get their views on the project to widen both High Street Road between Stud Road and Burwood Highway in Wantirna South, and Stud Road between Mountain Highway and Boronia Road in Wantirna. Once complete, these duplicated sections will reduce congestion while improving mobility and safety through the area.

As part of planning, VicRoads spoke to members of the community and other key stakeholders to get their views to separate the road from the rail at Mitcham Road and Rooks Road in Mitcham to reduce delays and improve the traffic flow and safety in the area. VicRoads conducted a survey to find out how you would like to be involvedduring this Planning Study, whether you'd like to have a say, and how you wish to provide your input. The early planning stages are the perfect time to provide feedback which can be considered in developing detail project proposals. VicRoads is improving safety and accessibility for tram passengers at the junction of Flemington Road, Royal Parade, Elizabeth and Peel Streets - also known as the Haymarket Roundabout. VicRoads sought feedback on the Draft Request for Tender (Draft RFT) for the provision, implementation, integration, and ongoing maintenance and service management of a Portfolio, Program and Project Management (PPM) system. VicRoads Information Management and Technology (IM&T) department sought feedback and questions regarding the Expression of Interest for the Provision of Call Centre Technology for VicRoads. Information is available on the VicRoads Consultation Hub.
Swanston Street, Carlton is one of the busiest tram corridors in the world with more than 45 million tram passengers travelling nine tram routes between Melbourne Central and the University of Melbourne each year. VicRoads prepared for public comment Planning Scheme Amendment (PSA) C232 documents, which include provision for a car park at the proposed Armstrong Creek Railway Station near Ghazeepore Road. Submissions closed on Wednesday 18 August. Submissions will be reviewed by VicRoads and/or the Department of Transport and provided to the Minister of Planning along with documents for consideration of a Planning Scheme Amendment (C232) under Section 20(4) of the Planning and Environment Act 1987. VicRoads invited motorcyclists, motorcycle industry and the wider community to discuss options for a new motorcycle graduated licensing system (GLS) policy that aims to reduce novice rider crashes by providing a pathway for novice riders to gain and demonstrate adequate riding experience as they progress through the licensing system. The Hoddle Street Study looked at options to improve the efficiency and reliability of all modes of transport along Hoddle Street, from the Eastern Freeway to just north of the M1 Freeway (CityLink). The discussion has closed but comments can be viewed at the Hoddle Street Study online forum.
VicRoads and the Department of Transport are proposing to install new peak hour bus lanes and clearways on sections of Victoria Parade and Hoddle Street.
Community consultation was undertaken in March and April 2011. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback - your comments are now being reviewed and considered.
This proposal is part of the Doncaster Area Rapid Transit (DART) project. It aims to make bus trips to and from the city quicker and more reliable by providing a dedicated bus lane during the peak hours.
