Please see Major closures and detours and bike and walking path information for more details.
M80 Ring Road between Pascoe Vale Road and Sydney Road
• Pavement and asphalt works are continuing on the M80 Ring Road in both directions, between Pascoe Vale Road and Jacana Tunnel. The majority of pavement works on the Greensborough bound side is complete with only the final layer of asphalt to be done.
• Widening is progressing in both directions between Merlynston Creek and Sydney Road. Heading towards Greensborough, retaining wall construction, storm water drainage installation and earth excavation is underway. Towards Altona, earth excavation is progressing and is expected to be completed over the next couple of weeks. Drainage installation will follow.
• Other works include re-aligning the shared user path between Merlynston Creek and Sydney Road which is currently closed while works are progressing. For more details see bike and walking path information.
• Wall panel installation against the new retaining wall has commenced on the Altona bound direction between Widford Street and Jacana Tunnel. Wall panel installation on the Greensborough bound side will start when asphalting is complete.
Sydney Road between Camp Road/Mahoneys Road and south of M80 Ring Road interchange
• A new retaining wall is being built under the Upfield railway bridge as part of works to widen the entry ramp from Sydney Road to M80 Ring Road Altona bound.
• The bridge widening at the Sydney Road / M80 Ring Road interchange is progressing. Pictured below is an aerial shot taken in mid-February showing the bridge widening taking shape.
• Beam installation at the interchange is now complete. Pictured below is the bridge deck after a beam installation that took place in April. Works are continuing to prepare the bridge deck for a concrete pour towards the end of May.

• Storm water drainage installation and ramp widening is taking place on the left side of the exit ramp from M80 Ring Road Altona bound to Sydney Road. The shared user path in this location is temporarily closed until mid-2012 as works progress. For more information visit the bike and walking path page.
• Service relocation and upgrades are progressing on Sydney Road between the M80 Ring Road interchange and Thompsons Road. Services being relocated and upgraded include gas, water, power, drainage and communications. Service providers will notify affected stakeholders in advance if there is a scheduled disruption to services in the area.
• The power relocation is progressing on Sydney Road with new poles installed and old poles taken down north of Camp Road. Planned power outages are required to get these down safely. More planned power outages are expected throughout May. Businesses on Sydney Road are advised to look out for advanced notification from service providers informing them of dates and times. Traffic delays are also expected on Sydney Road during the power outages as various lane closures and temporary stops of Sydney Road will also take place.
• Widening is largely complete on Sydney Road between the M80 Ring Road interchange and Anderson Road. The u-turn facility at the centre median on Sydney Road southbound has been reinstated.
• The left turn slip lane from Sydney Road northbound to Camp Road westbound is now closed as we re-align the kerb on this corner. The left turn slip lane from Camp Road eastbound to Sydney Road northbound in also closed. Motorists can still turn left at the traffic lights.
• The traffic signal timings at the Camp Road/Sydney Road intersection and M80 Ring Road/Sydney Road interchange have been modified to help ease congestion during peak hour times. This will be an ongoing process in order to find the best balance to minimise delays for drivers.
