Who is eligible to use Dealer on Line?
The Dealer on Line system is available to approved new vehicle dealerships operating under the VicRoads Dealer Certification Scheme.

If you are an eligible dealer or manufacturer NOT YET on the Dealer Certification Scheme, but would like to use Dealer on Line, contact your local Dealer Certification Representative on 1300 555 153 (option 2) to obtain information on how to join.


What is Dealer on Line?
Dealer on Line is a VicRoads online service that enables authorised motor vehicle manufacturers and dealers to register new vehicles and transfer vehicles over the Internet. This system replaces the manual process, with a fast and efficient online process.

By using Dealer on Line, certified dealers can process new vehicle registrations, and transfer currently registered Victorian vehicles at their dealership. Dealer on Line also enables dealers to print out registration labels and access statistical information and reports for the registration and transfer transactions processed at the dealership. Dealer on Line allows dealers to obtain vehicle status information in real time.

Why use Dealer on Line?
Dealer on Line offers significant benefits over the manual system to register new vehicles, they include:

  • A quick and easy way to register vehicles and transfer registrations online
  • Access to statistical information and reports for the registration and transfer of vehicles
  • Ability to print registration labels and certificate at the time of registration
  • Improved financial management through electronic payments
  • Improved data integrity through validation of vehicle status in real time

What type of transactions CAN I perform using Dealer on Line?
Dealers can process the following registration and transfer transactions using Dealer on Line:

New Victorian vehicle registrations, including:

  • Standard vehicles (with Gross Vehicle Mass less than 4,500 kg)
  • Motorcycles (Road and Recreational)
  • Light Trailers (with Gross Vehicle Mass less than 4,500 kg)
  • Heavy Vehicles (with Gross Vehicle Mass greater than 4,500 kg, including Federal Interstate Registrations) Heavy trailers

Transfer of Victorian registered vehicles, including:

  • Light and Heavy vehicles
  • Light and Heavy trailers
  • Motorcycles (compliant)

Transfer of the above Victorian registered vehicles, from:

  • Dealer to Dealer
  • Dealers to Private operators
  • Private operators to Dealers

What type of transactions CAN’T I perform using Dealer on Line?
Dealers CANNOT process the following registration and transfer transactions using Dealer on Line:

  • Registration of any second hand vehicles
  • Registration update where the vehicle’s VIN is not confirmed or recorded as stolen
  • Registration update where the pensioner client has other vehicles already recorded with a pension registration rate code
  • Registration update where the pensioner information is not recorded on the client record
  • Registration or transfer of Victorian vehicles that are recorded as suspended, cancelled, or written-off
  • Boat registrations and transfers
  • Transfers to customers requiring fee exemptions (e.g. motor vehicle duty)
  • Where the vehicle is classified as a special vehicle such as plant and farm machinery
  • Where transfers require duty exemptions e.g. State Emergency Service or an approved Department of Veteran Affairs pensioner (TPI)
  • Where the client does not exist in VicRoads’ records

How Much Does it Cost to use Dealer on Line?
Existing fees for vehicle registrations and transfer of registrations apply including a Vehicle Inspection Report fee and an Administration fee for all registration transactions.There are no additional charges for using the Dealer on Line service. However, you will need a printer to print Registration Certificates & Labels.
