A $62 million project extending Kings Road at Taylors Lakes as a fully divided four-lane road from north of the Melton Highway to the Calder Freeway, with direct connections via a new freeway interchange.
The Kings Road duplication opened in December 2011 with the freeway interchange opening in January 2012.
The works which finished under budget and five months ahead of schedule, are the first stage of planned safety and access improvements along the Calder Freeway between Keilor and Diggers Rest. Some project savings have now been redirected for safety improvements at the nearby Calder Freeway/Sunshine Avenue intersection.
The Australian and Victorian Governments are funding partners for the upgrade.

VicRoads is working to keep the local community informed through information sessions, project website, information brochures and other communications. We are now planning for the Calder Freeway/Sunshine Avenue intersection safety works to be completed in 2012 as part of the longer term freeway safety improvements between Keilor and Diggers Rest.
Recent community feedback on project proposals is now being reviewed in developing project plans.
