A guide to being on your P plates

Congratulations on getting your P plates in Victoria! This page will provide you with some helpful tips to guide you on your driving journey.

How to manage your details through myVicRoads

Having a myVicRoads account allows you to manage all your licence and registration information online at any time.

To manage your personal information, you can log in to your myVicRoads account.

If you don’t have an account, you can create an account here.

Carrying your licence

As a learner or p-plater, it is compulsory that you continue carrying your physical licence card with you when driving.

Even if you’re not driving, we recommend you continue to carry your physical card, as it may take time for some businesses to accept digital licences.

You can find more information on the Licence conditions page through Transport Victoria.

Rules for P platers

There are a number of restrictions and rules to follow while you are driving on your P plates in Victoria.

You can find out more about rules for P platers by visiting the Transport Victoria website.

Custom plates

Getting custom plates allows you to personalise your number plate by choosing your own combination, colour, design, and size. You can also choose to restyle your existing general issue plates.

You can browse the full range of plate styles and check the availability of your desired combination by visiting the vplates website.

Buying and transferring a vehicle into your name
