Changes to traffic conditions on West Gate Freeway

During spring, there will be ongoing changes to traffic conditions along the West Gate Freeway.

Please note that from 17 September to 18 October:

  • The Princes Freeway to Geelong Road ramp is closed
  • The Grieve Parade city-bound entry ramp to the West Gate Freeway is closed
  • There is no left turn on the Williamstown Road west-bound freeway exit ramp.

Signed detours will be provided. Plan ahead and allow extra travel time with delays of up to 15 minutes expected.

Crews will also undertake work that will require lanes and motorists to be shifted to different sections of the West Gate Freeway so they can set up construction sites on the freeway’s existing traffic lanes and rebuild these lanes from the ground up.

From mid-September, outbound lanes will shift on the West Gate Freeway over Williamstown Road.

As you approach the Williamstown Road outbound exit, two of the four lanes will veer left.

Note: You don’t need to make any early decisions – the lanes will join up again past Williamstown Road, so you just need to stay in your lane.
