myVicRoads app terms and conditions

VicRoads (R&L Services Victoria Pty Ltd) is giving Victorian driver licence holders a digital copy of their licence (Digital Driver Licence or DDL) through the myVicRoads app (App), on behalf of the Victorian driver licensing authority (the Department of Transport & Planning (DTP)).

You’ll need to download the App and sign in with your myVicRoads account to get a DDL.

Please note:

  • It is your responsibility to make sure your mobile device is working so that a person checking your identity with the DDL can verify its details.
  • You must not handle your mobile phone while driving. Do not use your mobile phone while in a vehicle until an authorised person has asked you to show your driver licence.
  • You should carry your plastic Victorian driver licence with you as back-up. A DDL may not be accepted by all businesses and mobile devices are not always reliable due to battery charge or network connectivity.
  • A plastic Victorian driver licence must be always carried when driving outside of Victoria.
  • Your DDL may still be accessed for up to two years once your Victorian driver licence is no longer valid but cannot be used as an authority to drive.
  • Using your DDL is conditional on the following terms.

VicRoads values your privacy – please read the DDL privacy collection notice and VicRoads’ privacy policy. The privacy policy also includes information about where to direct any privacy complaints. Any complaints about the App can be made through our feedback and enquires webpage.

1.1 By agreeing to use this App you agreed to be bound by these terms as updated from time to time, and you must abide by these terms when you use your DDL.

1.2 These service specific terms are in addition to the myVicRoads terms (myVicRoads terms and conditions: VicRoads), and to any terms and conditions that you agreed to when you applied for your driver licence or learner permit (Licences: VicRoads). Relevant terms in those terms should be read to apply to the App.

1. Terms

2.1 VicRoads will provide you with access to your DDL once you have successfully logged in to the App (using your myVicRoads account) and provided VicRoads with the information necessary to verify your identity.

2.2 You acknowledge your access to the App will be through your myVicRoads account, and that it is your responsibility to verify that your login details are correct.

2.3 You must not permit any other person to use your myVicRoads account login details to access the App or permit any other person to use your DDL, including a friend, family member or a partner.

2.4 It is your responsibility to take appropriate and additional steps to secure access to your personal data recorded in the App, based on your own individual circumstances.
2. Access to the app
3.1 You must not attempt to tamper with or alter your DDL.  Any attempt to do so may be a criminal offence under the Road Safety Act 1986 (Vic).

3.2 You should carry your plastic Victorian driver licence with you when driving. Mobile devices are not 100% reliable.

3.3 You must ensure your phone screen is not cracked, shattered or otherwise affected by any damage that may prevent your DDL from being viewed clearly when presented.

3.4 You must ensure your phone is working and sufficiently charged so that your DDL can be viewed.

3.5 You should not use your DDL on a rooted or jailbroken phone. If you choose to use your DDL on a phone with disabled security settings, you acknowledge that this may compromise the security of your personal information, and you do so at your own risk.

3.6 You bear all associated costs (including any data or Internet costs incurred in accessing your DDL).

3.7 You understand that it is an offence to use a mobile phone while driving.

3.8 To the extent permitted by law, you agree to release, fully indemnify and keep fully indemnified, VicRoads and DTP (including their officers, employees and agents) from and against all liability, cost, loss, damage, expense, claim or other right of action arising out of, or in connection with, your use of the App or DDL as a customer or checker, including the unavailability of the DDL or the refusal of a third person to accept a DDL.
3. Use and misuse of the app
