Licence and learner permit fees
Fees apply to cars, motorcycles, dual and heavy vehicles. In addition to the fees below, you might also need to pay a test and appointment fee.

*The learner permit and probationary licence issue fee is waived under the Motorist Package and Safe Driver Discount.
**A reissue is when you need to reapply for a licence or permit after a cancellation period, or if you haven’t had a licence for 6 months or more. If you haven't had a licence for more than five years, you will need to be re-tested.

Appointment change and cancellation fee
If you change your test, you’ll need to pay the $21.50 appointment fee again if you rebook. You don’t need to pay the test fee again.
If you cancel your test, you’ll need to pay the $21.50 appointment fee and a new test fee if you rebook.

Handbooks, logbooks and other product costs
You can download the PDF handbooks on the Transport Victoria website. If you prefer a physical copy, you can purchase handbooks via our online bookshop or at local news agencies.
Other products such as detailed drive test criteria and L or P plates are available at our VicRoads Customer Service Centres or news agencies.
National Driver Work Diary
If you drive a fatigue-managed heavy vehicle, you’ll need to keep a work diary or logbook to record your work and rest hours. This is a requirement under the Heavy Vehicle National Law. You can find information about the work diary and where to purchase it on the NHVR website.
