Modifying your club permit vehicle
You need to tell us if you make changes to your club permit vehicle.
For some changes, you’ll need an additional approval certificate. You can find out more by reviewing the standards for club permit vehicles information on the Transport Victoria website.
If your changes don’t need additional approval, you’ll need to:
- Have your club re-inspect the vehicle. They’ll then issue a new Vehicle eligibility and standards declaration for club permit vehicles form.
- Send the form back to us within 14 days of the modification.
Updating your club permit details
You have 14 days to let us know of any changes to your club permit details.
If your permit renewal is due, the easiest way to let us know of any changes to the address for your club permit vehicle is by renewing your permit through your myVicRoads account. Just add your new details to the renewal.
If your renewal isn’t due yet, or you’re changing your residential or postal address, you can:
You’ll need to tell us the following information:
- club permit holder’s name
- club permit number
- details of the change of address.
If you want to transfer your club permit vehicle to another approved club, go to a VicRoads Customer Service Centre. You’ll need to bring the following documents:
- a signed letter to let us know about your transfer, including any club permit vehicles you want to link to the new club
- a Vehicle eligibility and standards declaration for club permit vehicles form (PDF) from your new club for each vehicle you’re transferring
- a letter from an official at your new club to confirm that you’re a current member.
If you change the colour of your club permit vehicle, you can let us know by:
- emailing us at [email protected]
- visiting a VicRoads Customer Service Centre.
You’ll need to tell us the following information:
- club permit holder’s name
- driver licence number
- club permit number
- vehicle year, make and body type
- change of colour details.
If there are any changes to your club permit vehicle’s description, you’ll need to let us know in person. Bring the following information to a VicRoads Customer Service Centre:
- a letter to us including the club permit holder’s name, permit number and details of the change of description
- a Vehicle eligibility and standards declaration for club permit vehicles form (PDF) - make sure you have this signed by a Club Safety Officer or Scrutineer of your club.
Transferring your club permit
You can’t transfer a club permit. If you give or sell the club permit vehicle to another person, you’ll need to cancel the permit. The new owner can then apply for a new permit.
Their spouse or domestic partner can take over the permit if they belong to an approved club.
