A bike rack plate is a smaller copy of your car, caravan or trailer number plate that securely attaches to your bike rack.
If a bike rack is attached to the back of your vehicle, it can sometimes obscure your number plate. You can either move your regular number plate from your vehicle to the bike rack or you can buy a bike rack plate. This ensures your number plate is clearly visible.
The easiest way to order bike rack plates is through your myVicRoads account or app.
All you need to do is:
You’ll receive your bike rack plates in the post within 7-10 working days.
If a vehicle is registered in a company name, the bike rack number plates will need to be ordered in-person at a VicRoads Customer Service Centre.
You will need either a signed Letter of Authority or an Authority to Act as an Agent form. Find out more about this requirement.
It’s important to be aware of the road rules you need to follow to avoid fines. Visit Transport Victoria for information on bike rack and carrier rules.
